Los Angeles Maternity Photoshoot
There’s no doubt about it, the journey of motherhood is a whirlwind of excitement, nesting, preparations, anticipation, and joy. But it can be confusing (and a bit overwhelming) deciding when you should book your Los Angeles Maternity Photoshoot. So when exactly is the best time to schedule this magical session? Let’s dive into some friendly advice to help you capture the perfect moment!
Schedule Early, Shoot in the Sweet Spot:
First things first, mark your calendar early in your second trimester to ensure you secure your spot on my schedule. Maternity photoshoots are typically shot between 30-36 weeks of gestation. Why? Well, we want to capture that beautiful baby bump in all its glory, but we want to make sure you aren’t too uncomfortable yet and also need to be mindful of the possibility of early deliveries- especially for moms who are delivering multiples; in this case we’d most likely shoot your session closer to 30 weeks or even earlier if you’re high risk.
Consider Outdoor Conditions:
When planning your session, take outdoor conditions in Los Angeles into account. Is it the rainy season? Perhaps an indoor fine art studio session would be more suitable for you and your family. Likewise, if your shoot falls in the scorching summer months, opt for a location closer to the beach where temperatures are more bearable than the valleys and mountains. Remember, comfort is key for you, your partner, and any siblings involved. If your shoot coincides with the spring bloom in Southern California, be prepared for a bit of flexibility in your schedule to fully embrace the stunning scenery.
Account for Sibling Nap Times:
Speaking of siblings, if they’re joining the maternity photoshoot, consider their nap times. In the summer, when sunset serves as the ideal lighting, sessions may stretch into the evening. Plan accordingly to ensure everyone is well-rested and ready for action.
Plan for Pampering:
A maternity photoshoot is a special occasion, so why not indulge a bit? Plan for a day off work to indulge in some hair and makeup pampering. If you’d like, I can arrange this for you and we can either have the stylists meet you at your home or at my studio before our session. If you’re interested in that option, just let me know and I can send you additional pricing info. Gather everything you need for the shoot in advance to avoid any last-minute stress. If you’re not sure what to wear, feel free to send me photos of your options. I do also have a small collection of beautiful maternity dresses you can borrow if you’d like!
Flexibility is Key:
Finally, keep in mind that flexibility is key when scheduling your maternity session. From weather conditions to personal commitments, unexpected factors may arise. I will work with you on any last minute changes so you can embrace the spontaneity of the moment and go with the flow. In the end you’ll have stunning images to remember this important moment by.
Scheduling your Los Angeles maternity photoshoot requires careful consideration and planning. By scheduling early, considering outdoor conditions, accommodating sibling nap times, planning for pampering, and embracing flexibility, you can ensure a stress-free and memorable experience.
