Culver City Family Photographer, Emily Winnie
As a Culver City Family Photographer, I wait all year for this moment — when the hills turn green, wildflowers pop up overnight, and Los Angeles feels fresh and alive again.
Spring is one of the most underrated seasons for family photos here on the Westside, and the window is short. Because of the rain this year, flowers are blooming early, and everything is vibrant right now. Before summer rolls in and the landscape turns dry and golden, this is your chance to capture that lush, colorful look.
As a Los Angeles Family Photographer, I can tell you spring gives us the best of everything. Comfortable temperatures. Softer light. Happier kids. No one is overheating, no one is squinting in harsh sun, and we’re not racing sunset at 8 pm like we do in peak summer.
And yes — the flowers are already ahead of schedule!
The Best Spring Locations on the Westside
If you’re wondering where to go, I always help families choose the perfect backdrop. If you haven’t read my guide on picking the right location for your family photoshoot in Los Angeles, that’s a great place to start.
Right now, some of my favorite spring spots include:
- Stoneview Nature Center in Culver City: This hidden gem is especially beautiful in spring. I actually haven’t shot here before, but I’ve always wanted to!
- Kenneth Hahn Park: Rolling hills, open space, and seasonal blooms make this one of the best Westside locations this time of year.
- The South Coast Botanical Garden: Flowers are blooming and there are so many beautiful spots for photos.
Spring gives us color and texture that simply doesn’t exist by July.
What to Wear for Spring Sessions
Spring also opens up wardrobe possibilities. Flowing dresses, soft neutrals, pastel tones, and layers photograph beautifully against green hills and wildflowers.
If you’re unsure what works best, I always recommend reading my post on what to wear to your Los Angeles family photoshoot. It walks you through color palettes, coordination tips, and how to dress for the season without overthinking it.
When the background is green and blooming, outfits can feel lighter, softer, and more playful
What Types of Sessions Are Great For Spring?
Why You Should Book Now
Here’s the honest truth: spring in Los Angeles is fleeting.
By early summer, many of these green hills will be dry and golden. Beautiful in their own way, yes — but very different from the lush look we have right now. And once the heat arrives, sessions feel hotter, sunset gets later, and kids get tired faster.
If you want vibrant, fresh, colorful images, this is your moment.
As your Culver City Family Photographer, I’d love to help you capture this season before it disappears. Spring books quickly because families know this window doesn’t last.
Reach out today to reserve your spring session date before the flowers fade and the summer heat rolls in.
