Los Angeles Engagement Photographer, Emily Winnie

As a Los Angeles engagement photographer, Valentine’s Day is one of my absolute favorite times of year to photograph couples. There’s something about this season that invites you to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate your relationship just as it is right now. Whether you’re newly engaged, have been together for years, or simply want beautiful photos with your favorite person, this is the perfect excuse to make a night of it.

Leave the kids at home. Yes, really.
This is your moment to focus on each other.

Think of your session as the start of a date night. Get dressed up, hold hands, laugh a little more than usual, and let me take care of capturing the magic while you enjoy being together. After your session, go out to dinner, grab dessert, or wander the city like you did when you first fell in love.

Engagement Photos Los Angeles: Make It a Date Night

One of my favorite things about couples and engagement sessions is how relaxed they feel when you treat them like a date instead of a photoshoot. You can choose to have professional hair and makeup done to really spoil yourself. I’m happy to arrange this for you either in-home or at the studio, or you can absolutely do it yourself if that feels more “you.”

The goal is for you to feel confident, connected, and present. When you feel good, it shows in your photos.

Engagement Photo Location Ideas in Los Angeles

Choosing the right engagement photo location can make your session feel even more meaningful. Los Angeles is full of romantic spots, and I love helping couples pick a place that feels personal.

Some of my favorites include the Venice canals for a quiet, romantic stroll, or the beach for soft light and timeless images. We can cozy up in your favorite coffee shop, especially if that’s where you met or spent your early dates. Or we can keep things simple and intimate by staying home, cuddling on the couch with your pets, and capturing real-life moments that feel effortless and warm.

There’s no one right way to do this. Your location should reflect your story.

More Than Engagements: Couples at Any Stage

You don’t need a ring to book a session. I photograph couples at every stage, from brand-new engagements to long-term partners who just want updated photos together. Valentine’s Day sessions are about celebrating connection, commitment, and love in all its forms.

As a Los Angeles engagement photographer, my goal is to create images that feel natural, romantic, and true to who you are together. I’ll guide you when needed, but mostly I’ll let you be yourselves.

If you’ve been thinking about engagement photos, couples portraits, or simply doing something special together this Valentine’s season, let’s plan a session that feels like you. From choosing the perfect engagement photo location to setting the tone for a relaxed, romantic experience, I’ll take care of the details so you can focus on each other.

Love really is in the air—and it deserves to be documented.
